Monday Morning, May 16, 2011: Mark and Paula headed out into Custer State Park near Keystone, South Dakota. The scenery was spectacular. |
Driving through one of the many tunnels, they saw the Mount Rushmore National Memorial through the trees ahead. A great sight. |
The Rushmore faces can be seen again way in the background between Mark and Paula at this overlook. |
The park is known for its wildlife. These deer hardly notice tourists. |
Two prairie dogs came out to see who was going by. |
This buffalo and calf didn't care if they were holding up traffic. It took quite a while before they wandered away to let the onlookers pass. |
Big horn sheep abound there as well. |
Paula stopped to take photos on a lake near a campground. What was she photographing? The photographic works of Paula "Shutterbug" Persons are sold exclusively at the Gilbert Lodge Gift Shop. Not available elsewhere, you will want to meet the artist and purchase them in person. |
Well, it was two ducks and four ducklings that Paula was clicking on.. |
Another view of this beautiful area. |
Mark and Paula saw car license plates from most of the 50 states along the way except Hawaii. This really is a tourist designation. |
Quote of the day: Custer State Park is a nature-lovers paradise. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
