The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Friday, February 25, 2011:  Deep Diver Paula was out again at Grand Cayman Island.  She photographed this rock beauty.
Sea pool.  Great visibility.
Gray angel fish.  How often do you see those in Minnesota?

Answer:  Never.

A sponge on the sea floor.

Friday afternoon, February 25, 2011, e-mail from Deep Diver Paula:  Had a wonderful afternoon dive.  We are now out of the water for good.  Have yet to get to town.  Considered leaving this evening but it is so much easier to just stay put and eat here.  Have very wrinkled skin and look like a prune over most of my body along with lots of bruises from climbing into the boat on the ladder.  Hated to call it quits on our afternoon dive.  Met many very interesting people here.

The plane leaves at 4:30 PM tomorrow (Saturday) Cayman time.  Will call you upon landing in Minneapolis.  Wish you could have been here but we were on the go from 6:30 AM, when the alarm went off, to 5:00 PM when we finally got showered.  Needless to say lights-out has been before 9:00 PM every night.  Some real party animals here!

Have to be out of the water more than 24 hours before our flight to avoid decompression.

Josie, the cat, must be missing me.  Love and miss you.  Lots of xxx’s and ooos  Deep Diver Paula

Friday evening e-mail from Deep Diver Paula:  Well it is 7:45 PM and we are about ready to call it a night.  Had dinner with Steve, Judy, and Fred.  Steve is a wonderful photographer and he showed us the photos he takes.  He is using a Canon S95 (very similar to my S90).  Nearly all dive partners have at least one camera between them, if married, or they carry their own.  Most of them have Canon cameras.  Fun seeing the camera buckets.  You place your camera in the bucket when you get on and off the dive boat.  That keeps it out of the sea water and air.  My photos are getting progressively better.  I am trying more to compose shots.  Enjoying the week immensely.  Will be very tired coming home. I plan to drive to Brainerd, but if get too tired I may have to stop and spend the night.  Will see how it goes.  Have been waking up here at 6:15 AM and back to bed before 9:00 PM.  On home time, I will be getting up at 5:30 AM.  Plan Saturday morning to pack, lay by the pool and get a little sun.  Have just been diving so have no suntan at all.  Will leave for the airport early afternoon.  Planning on getting shots of the outside of the resort, dive shop and the bar.  I have tried a couple of the Indian dishes and like them very much.

Looking forward to seeing you and Josie the cat tomorrow evening.  Tired, bruised and water logged as can be.  Went diving 3 times each day for a total of 18 dives.  We are very impressed with ourselves.

Its been a very good trip.  Xxx ooo xxx ooo xxx ooo Deep Diver Paula

Only 20 days until St. Patrick's Day.
