April 18, 2010: Mark and Paula installed the dock on Gilbert Lake. This is an annual ritual and all went well. Paula is seen waving a hand from the end of the dock. We sometimes call it the "ship's pier." The Minnow is in dry dock, but is expected back to ply the waters of Gilbert Lake soon. |
She even found some driftwood and put it just outside the Grand Entrance to the lodge. Yes, everything is being made "ship shape" anticipating the beginning of summer and the tourist season at Gilbert Lodge. |
That evening, Chef Paula cooked Beer Can Chicken for dinner. To do this, she put a whole chicken over a mostly full can of beer. The chicken absorbs the beer flavor as it cooks over the Bar-B-Q for just over an hour. Paula basted the chicken with secret ingredients known only to her and she isn't telling either. |
On the table in the Grand Dining Room, it went great with potatoes and vegetables. |
