March 28, 2010:  Ice on Gilbert Lake is getting very black.  It won't be long before it melts.

March 31, 2010:  Lake ice is gone and a woodchuck was spotted in the clear cold water heading toward Gilbert Lodge.  Ducks were seen checking out the lake looking for a good place to raise a family.

Fact:  There was zero precipitation in the Brainerd area during March this year.  The normal/average rainfall in March is 1.4 inches.  We need rain to green up the landscape and reduce the spring fire danger.  

Chef Paula took the opportunity to Bar-B-Q Pacific Salmon on the Promenade Deck. 

She served it with a mix of white and wild rice.

April 1, 2010:  What do you do with salmon leftovers?  Answer: Break it into small pieces and combine it with noodles.
