Saturday, December 18, 2010: Mark and Paula were up before sunrise in Duluth, MN, to photograph the sunrise. This shot is of the seawalls at the entrance to the Aerial Bridge. Lights there guide ships to and into this international port city. |
Skies were overcast, but the sun finally found spot to shine through onto the north shore of Lake Superior. |
Paula was out photographing ducks. We may see her photos in an upcoming episode of this blog. |
Lake Superior is not frozen over, but rocks on the north shore had plenty of ice on them.
|
Interesting how the ice formed on them. |
Paula makes friends with animals everywhere. This one is a reindeer that she found at Fitger's on the North Shore. Santa is probably nearby too. |
All that reindeer talk made Mark hungry. He and Paula dined at the nearby Pickwick Restaurant, which has switched owners and was remodeled recently. This famous dining spot, sometimes called the "Wick," has been serving terrific food since 1914. |
Speaking of terrific food, this is the seafood soup which Mark ordered. The lunch even had some lobster. It just doesn't get any better than this on a cold day. Mark sent his compliments to the chef for this fine dish. |
Quote of the day: The North Shore of Lake Superior is always worth visiting. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
