Friday, December 17, 2010: Sunrise near Aitkin, MN, was about 8 AM on that 10 degree winter day. |
At the Aerial Bridge in Duluth, MN, Mark and Paula saw one of the last "saltie" (ocean going vessels) leaving port this year. Polish, she is the Miedwie from the Polsteam Shipping Agency headed for warmer waters. They saw two sailors waving good by for the season from the stern of the ship. |
Those Polish must be rugged people. The Sailor on the left is wearing short pants. |
Sunset came at 4:45 PM just after the bridge opened again to car traffic. |
Mark got the chance to feel like a sailor in the cabin at the nearby Lake Superior Marine Museum. It is a great place to visit and warm up from the cold weather. Photo by Paula. |
Mark and Paula dined at the Red Lobster that evening. |
The Aerial Bridge as seen from the other side at night after dinner. A great sight. |
Quote of the day: Duluth is a fun place to visit. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
