April 16, 2009:  The ice on Gilbert Lake still shows trails...evidence of snowmobiles crossing just a week before.                   

April 18, 2009:  The ice has gone out.  Yes, Minnesota is the land of sky-blue water. 

The dock will be installed soon at Gilbert Lodge in anticipation of the annual return of the Minnow. 

Neighbors spotted the first boat boat of the year on the lake on April 21st.  

April 20, 2009:  Well after sunset and just before total darkness, a lone light streams over the lake.  Ah...it won't be long before we have balmy summer nights with waves gently lapping on the shore.       
April 21, 2009:  More evidence of spring.  A street sweeper is out picking up leaves and sand from the roads.  Yes, spring has come to the Northland.
