         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

November 7, 2009:  Mark "Ole" Persons and Paula "Lena" Persons were out splitting more firewood in preparation for winter at Gilbert Lodge.

Here is some oak in the splitter.  It is a very hard wood and burns hot in the Grand Fireplace.

Paula is showing about 2/3 of the wood put up this day.  Half is oak, the rest is pine and a few other varieties.

When the work was done, Mark and Paula enjoyed a roaring fire in the Grand Fireplace in the Great Room.

Chef Paula prepared her famous split-pea soup.  She cooked it with ham in a crock pot starting 24 hours before.
