Thursday, December 12, 2024: Glensheen Historic Estate, the 20,000 square foot Congdon Mansion on the north shore of Lake Superior. Owned by the University of Minnesota, tours are given to the public year round. Mark and Paula dropped in for a tour. Imagine yourself in the shoes of those who lived there 100 years ago. Mark was intrigued by the push-button light switches, which he remembers from his 1950s childhood in Duluth. Dinner for eight at this table. Once outside, Paula discovered this stone arch bridge over one of the two streams flowing though the property. The place cost $854,000 to build in 1908, which is 29 million dollars in today's money. |
