Saturday, June 18,
2022: Vintage World War Two aircraft and thousands of spectators showed up for an airshow at Fagen Fighters near Granite Falls, Minnesota. |
|
Douglas DC-3 aircraft,
designed in the mid-1930s, were inducted into the military and renamed
the
C-47. They hauled cargo around the world and were nicknamed Dakota and Skytrain. Others called them Gooney Birds. In Vietnam there were called Spooky and Puff the Magic Dragon when used as gunships. |
|
One can never get the aircraft to look
too good. |
Here, a U.S. Marine is talking with a soldier from Australia. Love the hat. |
Reenactors were the
order of the day. |
|
A
PBY Catalina that could take off and land on water. |
|
World War Two veterans
are not common today, but they came out to be recognized for their
service. |
|
Then there were the WWII
Paratrooper reenactors. |
|
The military parade was
a big hit. |
|
Lots of action in the
sky. |
|
Then they recreated the
December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. |
|
Americans fought back,
downing a Japanese Zero airplane. |
|
Wings over America. |
Quote of the day: I love airshows. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
