Tuesday,
November 5, 2019: The
Loretto Chapel
has an interesting staircase story that goes back to 1878.
According to legend, the building architecture left little room for
stairs to get to the choir loft. The Sisters of the Chapel made a
novena to St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters. A man showed
up and took several months to build the staircase, which has two
complete 360 degree turns. He left without thanks or payment.
The mystery deepens when it is determined that the wood is of unknown
origin. The power of prayer. |
Mark and Paula were out trying to
find their way around Santa Fe. Not an easy task with winding
streets. A map helped. |
Lots to see in this town. |
Then they came across this green car. |
It is a Hudson Hornet from
1953. Gosh, Paula wasn't even born then. |
More from the city square. |
A local bakery specializes in
making bread. |
A nice warm fire at the hotel after a long day in town. |
Quote of the day: Santa Fe is a great place. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
