24, 2018:
(l-r) Paula and Mark were interviewed on WWWI-AM/FM and KLKS-FM Radio by
Rick Skogs for 25 minutes. Mark is a life member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars. Paula is a VFW auxiliary life member. Their topic that
day was the annual VFW essay contest. For school age students grades 6 to
8, it is the Patriot's pen, 300 to 400 word writing on the subject, "Why My Vote
Matters." Students in grades 9 to 12 can compete in a writing/speaking
competition, Voice of Democracy. This year's theme is "Why I Honor the
American Flag." Details at
BrainerdVFW.org |
Well, it the end of the boating season. The Minnow was picked up for
winter storage that day. Mark, "The Skipper," said, I can hardly wait
until next year. |
Bingo is played at the
Brainerd VFW on Monday evenings. Paula (on the right) is very
competitive and was concentrated on winning. |
Then the food arrived. It may be a bit fattening, but sure tasted good. |
Bingo was called all evening and there were a some happy winners. |
Quote of the day: A great day in Brainerd. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
