Sunday, June 3, 2018:
London is a big
city. Mark had to call Paula to find out where she was! |
They found each other
and
stopped in at Fuller's Ale
& Pie for lunch. A taste of Britain. |
An item they
are known for is Pie and Mash. It is three ales with three meat
pies and mash (potatoes). |
Then it was off on an
open-top city tour bus. |
Big Ben was under renovation, but still chimed. |
The London Eye, as seen from Westminster Bridge over the River Thames.
More on that later.
|
Street names
change frequently. A street may have three names as you go along.
Must be very confusing for taxi drivers. Lots of construction in London. With limited real estate, they tear down buildings to put up taller ones. |
Plenty to see
an lots of foot traffic. |
The theatre district was on the route. |
Now we've got troubles...the bus driver attempted to go through a narrow
street and couldn't make a turn at the end. He had to back up the huge bus about a block, much to the chagrin of bystanders. No easy task. |
It took about
20 minutes before backing into a very busy street. But
then, all London street are busy. |
Time for a refreshment after that experience. You don't see food trucks like that in the U.S. |
Quote of the day: London is an interesting place. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
