Friday, May 18, 2018:
Mark and Paula attended the annual
Northland
Antique Radio Club gathering in Plymouth, MN. Lots of old radios from the 1920s through the 60s were there for show and for sale. |
The list went
on and on. |
Paula
discovered the grandfather clock radios. They don't make them like
that anymore! |
Many brand
names came and went back in those days. The orange colored radio
is from the 1960s. Mark and Paula have a Majestic radio from 1929. It was built in a grand time! |
Here is a radio from
the 1920s. Lots of knobs and dials. |
That night
there was an auction. Some serious bidding too. Prices ran
up to $1000. |
There was a
rummage sale in the parking lot the next morning. |
More bargains
for collectors. |
Yes, some went
home with happy buyers. |
Some of the
radios had a great attraction. |
Some were
meticulously restored and were just there to show. |
The afternoon
speaker was John Hines, a Twin Cities air personality for 40+ years.
He was heard on KSTP, WLOL, K102, and WCCO starting in the 1960s. Lots of great broadcasting stories. |
Quote of the day: Radio is a magic thing. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
