Thursday, December 21, 2017:  Snow was nestled in the pines at Gilbert Lodge.

Shot at 4:16 pm, the sun was getting ready to set on this, the "shortest day" of the year.
It cast long shadows on the cold and snowy landscape.

Colors shown on trees with the last gasp of sunlight.  The longest night commeth.

The facts:  There were 8 hours and 35 minutes of daylight that day with 15 hours and 25 minutes of darkness.
Sunrise and sunset times change by just 42 seconds each day late in December.

Quote of the day:    At least the days are starting to get longer.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
