Monday, October 30, 2017:  It was time for the annual wood splitting bee at Gilbert Lodge.
Master Wood Chopper Mark was at the helm.  Yes, he is wearing hearing protection.  Watch your fingers, Mark!
It snowed on and off that day, but not enough to stop the work.

The great machine made quick work of huge logs.  They'll go in the Grand Fireplace at Gilbert Lodge.

Master Wood Stacker Paula was busy doing her thing.

That's when she discovered her wood pile had just  tipped over.....well, things happen!!

Then Chef Paula decided to make amends by preparing a Stromboli Ring.

Ingredients:
12 oz of fresh prepared whole-wheat pizza dough
1 Tbsp. olive oil
4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 cup of part-skim Ricotta cheese
1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
6 oz shredded skinless chicken breast

She put the ingredients in the pizza dough, fashioned it into a ring, and baked at 450 degrees for about 18 minutes.
For complete directions, go to the September 2017 issue of Cooking Light Magazine.

Chef Paula used egg wash to hold it all together.

The egg added a wonderful brown color to the exterior.  Just the way Mark likes it.  The rating was four stars that night.

Quote of the day:    Paula does everything.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
