Friday, August 4, 2017:  Hmmm, a viewing stand at Sault Ste Marie, MI. 
People came out to see a ship going through the Soo Locks between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
 

She was the G3 Marquis, an ocean going cargo carrier of 740 feet of length. 
 

Then captain was paying close attention to all details as he guided the vessel through.
 

The ship pretty much filled one lock.
 

There was a tour boat going through the other lock at the time.
 

The lock raises or lowers a ship or boat about 21 feet. 
Lake Superior is the higher of the two.  Water from Minnesota and Canada drains through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean.
