Wednesday,
July 5, 2017: The
Wounded
Warrior Amputee Softball Team played ball with the Brainerd Celebrity Team.
The event was an exhibition at Mills Field in Brainerd, MN. There was a near capacity crowd. Just one-third is shown above. |
The Civil Air Patrol was on hand along with
a Master Sergeant and a Captain from the U.S. Army.
|
An Honor Guard made up of local veterans
organizations was there to present the flag.
|
Brainerd VFW
Junior Vice Commander Michael Williams gave a salute as the Star
Spangled Banner was sung. Nicely done on both counts. |
Then the game started. Note the
pitcher for the Wounded Warrior team has an artificial leg. That didn't seem to slow him or his enthusiasm down. |
The Brainerd team played hard.
|
Then there was music on the infield. |
Your "Ace" photographer Mark was given
permission to climb the Brainerd Fire Department ladder truck to photo
the event. |
Nice view from up there, Mark. |
Lots of spirit with a few solid hits. |
There was no end to action. |
High intensity playing and the crowd loved
it. |
Girl Scouts came out to read during an
intermission. |
Then back to more softball. |
Local celebrities showed up to see and be
seen at the game. |
The game was a fun event for everyone. The Brainerd team won. |
Quote of the day: It is amazing what those guys can do. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
