Tuesday, June 6,
2017: It
was a farily clear day at the port cities of Duluth, MN, and Superior,
WI, on Lake Superior. The famous Aerial Bridge could be seen from a visitor center at the top of the hill along I-35. |

The
John
G. Munson was discharging cargo in calm port waters. |

The Aerial Bridge opened part way to let
several tour boats go through. The bridge is on a schedule to open every half hour when there is boat traffic. Local residents know that so they can plan their work and shopping schedules with minimum interruption. |

Then the
Zelada Desgagnes came in. Riding high in the water, she was
desitined to pick up cargo in the Twin Ports. |
![]() |
Just enough clearance under the bridge to
get through. It is a photo opportunity for almost everyone when ships come and go. |

The
Oakglen came in too. She is 730 feet long and can haul about
22,000 tons of cargo. |
![]() |
The
Walter J. McCarthy Jr. left port that day. At 1000 feet in
length, she can haul 36,000 tons. |

Sea gulls watched over boat and people
traffic. Just another day of the life of a gull. |
![]() |
Seventy degree weather was great for people
too. Nice just to be there and watch. |

This young lady was feeding sea gulls while
a small child chased one. Canal Park is a draw for people and
birds alike. |
