Friday, March 3, 2017:  Middle of winter, but Canadian Geese were seen sticking around the Mississippi River at Brainerd.
The river remains open most of the year because of moving water in this area on the south side of town.

They climbed onto an ice shelf, which must have been even more cold than the water.  Apparently they did not mind.

This is where the river turns west a bit south of Kiwanis Park, near Rotary Park, south of the College Drive Bridge.

They are beautiful animals that are completely at home in this winter climate.

Quote of the day:    Outdoor life doesn't stop just because it's winter.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
