Friday
January 8, 2016: Mark and Paula were just minding their own
business, driving along, when Paula exclaimed, "There's a sign post up
ahead....turn right!" Yes, the tree sign says Motorcycle Parking. The town has a population of 3 CATS! They say that everybody is somebody in Luckenbach. |
Luckenbach almost
became a ghost town at one time. Even its post office was
closed. More on that later in the story. |
|
Yes, this feller
is a real Texan. Central Texas is farm country where
roosters roam freely and do their cock-a-doodle-dos. |
|
Paula stopped into the General
Story and purchased some hand lotion from store clerk Leah.
They got along well. This place has everything because it
is the ONLY store in town. |
|
They even have hats, one just
right for any Texan or tourist. |
Yes, this poster tells it all. The
town's reputation was greatly helped by singer Waylon Jennings. The song that is available on YouTube, Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love). More information about the song. The town has live music and a beer hall. People flock there for all around to have a good time. |
Hmmm....another aircraft museum to tour soon. |
Quote of the day: One more item off my bucket list. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
