Monday,
September 21, 2015:
Mark and Paula spent some time in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota. There are statues of all American presidents on street corners. George Washington and Ronald Reagan are two of the greatest. |
|
After touring downtown, it was time for lunch at the
Firehouse.
They are very successful with their fare. Much liked by locals and
tourists alike. |
|
Very nicely done paintings on the walls including one
depicting 911. |
|
Mark tried on a firefighters outfit after lunch, then tried some Rosevelt wine. Did you notice they spelled the name with only one o? |
Then Paula was out to Creston, South
Dakota, some 20 miles east of Rapid City, guided by a old map. Long lost family members lived there over 100 years ago. The town is completely gone now. An 11 year old took his younger siblings from here back to Illinois after both parents died in 1898. That was a 900 mile trip by covered wagon. Amazing. Nothing left today but a farm trail, which Paula walked, trying to recapture the vibes of her ancestors. |
What is that?
Hmmm....does it foretell the future for the Dynamic Duo? |
Quote of the day: More fun on the road. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
