         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons
Friday, September 4, 2015: 

Mark and Paula attended the Minnesota State Fair, sometimes called The Great Minnesota Get Together.

They arrived at lunch time, so chowhound Paula headed straight for a turkey sandwich.

She topped it off with glasses of milk, one vanilla, and two chocolate.  She just can't get enough chocolate! 

There is a parade at 2 PM each of the ten days of the fair.  Each parade has different entrants.
 
Lots to see including horses.
 
Dennis Pease, of Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, proudly showed off a 17-foot Cat-Ketch Gaff Rigged sailboat.  He built by hand using Northern White Cedar, Mahogany White Oak, Sitka Spruce, Douglas Fir, and Butternut.  The project took three years.  Nicely done!
Kids love to try milking cows, under the supervision of a farmer and under the watchful eye of the Minnesota Gopher.
One of the ever-favorite foods at the fair is the Pronto Pup.  Yes, a hot dog deep fried in bread batter.  Plenty of other foods available too.
Who would have guessed that deep frying pickles would be a hit.

Many thousands were sold at the fair again this year.

 How about this bagpipe at O'Gara's Irish Restaurant?

He sure brought the crowd in!
How about a caricature?  It was likely more fun watching it happen that is was having one done.
 
Lots of high-energy dancing too.  Mark liked this one!
 
Television Channel 4 was there doing live broadcasts at 6 PM and 10 PM.

On camera that day were Frank Vascellaro and his wife Amelia Santaniello.

Mark likes Chris Shaffer, the weather guy, because he has such an outgoing attitude.
Then there was the midway. 

Paula isn't much on high-altitude rides, but loved the Whac a Mole game.

Paula, how could you do that to those little creatures that pop up to say hi?
The midway has really improved with places to see and things to do.
 
New York sure has a lot of magnetism for people.
