Saturday,
February 21, 2015: Mark and
Paula were out on Gilbert Lake and ran into Lane Mimmack at his portable
fish house.
Lane was
drilling holes in the ice in hopes of finding just the right fishing spot.
The depth near this location varied from 7 feet to 30 feet. He was
right on a drop off area.

He then put an electronic depth
sounder probe in the hole and adjusted the sounder to run.
There it was, 23 feet of water under the ice. Nice tool.

Lane said he can
occasionally see fish passing by the dept sounding beam. How big
was the northern he caught earlier?
Well, there were no witnesses so it cannot be confirmed, but Lane said
it was "this big!"
He throws them back to be caught again another other day.

Then it was back to the
Lodge, across frozen Gilbert Lake.
