Thursday,
January 1, 2015: Mark and Paula were out on Gilbert Lake to stretch heir legs on this New Year's Day. First they checked the ice. Looks like ten to twelve inches thick with plenty of cracks, which is normal. It was safe to walk on that day. |
What's that up ahead?
It is a fishing lure, apparently dropped by a fisherman. Finder's keeper's losers weepers. |
There were many tracks to follow
that day. The two larger ones are from a four-wheeler. The smaller ones in the center are from a "fat bike." Bicycles with fat tires are becoming very popular year round. On the right are dog tracks. It is amazing what can be found on the lake. |
Then of course there are fishing houses.
Fishermen and women try for Northern
Pike, Blue Gill, Bass, and Crappie. Gilbert lake is 369 acres with a maximum depth of 45 feet. It is one of the cleanest lakes in the Brainerd Lakes area. |
This is winter so the sun goes down early while casting long shadows. |
Quote of the day: Happy New Year. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
