Sunday,
December 21, 2014: Gilbert Lodge maintenance man Mark was up on a ladder replacing a light bulb above the Grand Stairway. Yes, he wanted to make sure everything was right for the long night ahead. It was the "longest night" of the year. Just 8 hours and 35 minutes of daylight/15 hours and 25 minutes of darkness. Watch it, Mark, don't fall! |
Chef Paula
was busy at the outdoor grill on the Promenade Deck. She was cooking Pacific Salmon....on of her specialties. |
On a plate, it was terrific with wild rice and broccoli. Who could ask for more? Well, there were Christmas cookies for dessert! |
There was a cozy fire to keep things warm in the Grand
Fireplace at Gilbert Lodge. Just right for a long cold night. Mark and Paula enjoyed watching the movie Christmas Story, which is about an orphan boy in Finland. The boy later became old St. Nick. This 2007 movie was originally done in the Finnish language. English was dubbed in later. |
Quote of the day: We've turned the corner and nights are getting shorter. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
