         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons
Saturday, October 18, 2014: 
It was a 79th birthday party for Bill Matthies at the Minnesota School of Diving SCUBA shop in Brainerd.
(l-r) Brittnay Fyock, Bill Matthies, and Deep Diver Paula.  Bill isn't much on smiling, but he is a great guy.
 
Brittany was the one who came up with the terrific dive cake.

There he was back in 1959 with his dive shop.  It was the Brainerd Skindiving Supply Company back then.

Dive lessons were "free" if you bought air and equipment at the shop.

The company has evolved to the Minnesota School of Diving.
Bill was certified some 55 years ago by PADI, the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.

They sent him a happy birthday certificate.

Imagine that, we is the 79th PADI instructor in the world and this was his 79th birthday. 

Deep Diver Paula and even Mark endorse the book.

It is well written with a lot of practical knowledge about SCUBA diving.
Bill wrote a well received book about diving a few years back.

It is still available at the dive shop.
