The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Wednesday, October 8, 2014:
Around 5 AM, an eclipse of the moon started.

The earth shadowed the moon more and more.

Finally around 6:30 AM, the eclipse was complete with a couple of stars showing.
The moon was red because it was receiving light that has been bent through the earth's atmosphere.
This is often called a "blood moon."

As viewed across Gilbert Lake, the moon reflected off the calm water at this early hour when some residents were just rising for the day.
There is an eclipse about once every 1.5 years in the central time zone of North America.

A young couple were looking up at the moon.  She said, "Isn't it beautiful?"  He said, "Yes, but you should have seen it before they walked on it!"

Quote of the day:  Photographers don't always get a full night of sleep.   Mark < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
