Sunday,
September
28, 2014:
It was a nice day for a drive. Mark and Paula headed out to see fall colors. They started in Brainerd and headed for Mille Lacs Lake. |
This 1950s vintage
Chevrolet was parked in leaves remembering the good old days when it
was young and ran down the road like the wind. Now it is resting in its retirement. |
Plenty of colorful trees at Crosby,
Minnesota. Lots to see on the peaceful street. |
Fall leaves were on a path under a canopy
of tall trees at
Mille Lacs Kathio State Park. Yes, fall is here. |
Paula waved good luck as Mark climbed
the 100 foot fire lookout. The tower is not used regularly for spotting fires, but is a good tourist destination. |
From the top, there was a view of an
island in
Mille Lacs Lake. At 132,000 acres, Mille Lacs is Minnesota's second largest inland lake. |
It was a perfect day for horseback
riding. Even the horses liked it. Mark and Paula decided not to "horse around" so they walked instead. |
Then the trip led them to
Father Hennepin State Park on the south side of Mille Lacs Lake. The trees were showing off colors there too. |
This shelter is a comforting spot for
park visitors. Lots of fall leaves on the ground too. |
Boaters and fishermen were enjoying
tgood weather while they could. The rumor is that winter will be coming one of these days. |
The sun was shining over the water
when looking west from the east side of Mille Lacs Lake. Even the birds liked it. |
Quote of the day: Fall is a colorful time of year. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
