The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Saturday, June 21, 2014:  It was the annual open house at Crow Wing State Park south of Brainerd.
Fur traders and the like went there to show their wares and lifestyle to the public.

Ray Nelson was there with his extensive collection of guns.  He has been researching guns going back before the United States was a country.
Most of his are from the 1700s and 1800s.  You've seen Ray in previous posts on this blog.

Plenty of things to learn such as making shakes for roofs and tanning hides by hand.

This fur trader was showing his equipment, including the knife in his hand.
He is a member of the Crow Wing County Muzzle Loaders group.

There was always weaving or other clothing making while hot coffee was brewing on a fire.

The Mississippi River as seen from Crow Wing State Park.

Quote of the day:  I wonder if life was simpler and better in the old days?   Mark < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
