It was the 70th anniversary of
D-Day.
It was the beginning of the end of World War II as 24,000 U.S., British, and
Canadian soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy in France. There were at
least 10,000 Allied casualties with 4414 confirmed dead that day. It is
the price they paid. The war in Europe went on for almost another year
with the goal to put a stop to Adolph Hitler's plans to rule the world. In
all, 60 million people, including 407,000 Americans, died in World War II.
