Saturday,
November 9, 2013: The Center for Lifelong Learning in Brainerd held a talk about what Vietnam is like today. Much has changed since the Vietnam War (1961 to 1973). |

Sandra Kaplan relate her experience of visiting Vietnam recently. The dress she was wearing was made in Vietnam. On the blackboard are the Vietnamese words that describe that style of dress, which is every common in that country. She and three U.S. military Vietnam veterans related how the country has changed now that the war is over. |

Most transportation today in Vietnam is by motorcycle. Back in the war days, people got around on bicycle. It is said by
many that the
Vietnam War was a "civil war" between the north and south of that Asian country.
The United States was involved fighting the Communist north in an attempt to
halt the spread of Communism. In
the end, it cost the lives of 47,000 Americans. Vietnam was united under a
Communist form of government in 1973. |
Quote of the day: How the place has changed since I was there in 1969. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
