Monday, November 11, 2013: Veterans Day.
There was a program at the Brainerd High School. Commander
Sergeant Major Cynthia Kallberg spoke that day. Her
theme was "honoring the greatest generation to the latest
generation." She noted that less than 10% of Americans
are military veterans and only 1% of Americans carry the burden of
protecting our country by serving in the military today.
Americans need to recognize sacrifices made by military personnel,
especially those serving abroad. |

The auditorium was filled with students who showed up for ceremonies to honor veterans. |
|
|
That evening, Paula and Mark dined at the Olive Garden in Baxter where veterans were treated to a complimentary meal. Mark served with the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1969, including a year in Vietnam. |
|
|
The Olive Garden staff was in tune with Veterans Day.
Applebees restaurants also hosted veterans to a free meal that day. |
