Sunday, July
21,
2013:
Deep Diver Paula loaded her gear aboard the Minnow to do some SCUBA diving in Gilbert Lake. The boat that day was referred to as the, "Gilbert Dive Barge." She was wearing a swimsuit, topped with a dress she purchased on a recent Hawaii trip. |
Passengers on the
Minnow included friends Dave Schaeffer and Karen
Engen. Paula's job that day was to attempt to find a boat anchor, which Karen lost in the lake recently. |
Then it was a leap into the
water. Paula has almost 500 dives under her belt since she started diving some 10 years ago. |
Soon she was breathing from her
air regulator and was heading down. Paula dove to a depth of about 19 feet at that location. |
For the next 35 minutes, all the
topside crew saw was bubbles and a dive flag. Finally, she surfaced and returned. |
Sorry, no anchor was found.
Darn! Taking off her dive hood, Paula was wet from head to foot...including her hair. This is normal as she was wearing a "wet suit," which lets water in. That water is then a warm insulating layer against the colder water of the lake. In the background is friend Jean Schaeffer. |
Quote of the day: Another day in the life of Deep Diver Paula. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
