Monday, June 10, 2013: It all started with the Thursday, June 6th edition of the Brainerd Dispatch newspaper. There it was, a recipe by Diane Hoglin for pulled pork sandwiches. The interesting part is that the pork was to be slow cooked in root beer. |
Chef Paula
took to the idea right away. After cooking in a Crockpot for most of the day, the root beer was poured off and the meat separated into nice size chunks. |
She put plenty of BBQ sauce on and let the pork cook some more. |
That gave her time to
prepare watermelon. It is a real favorite with Paula especially in the summer. |
Paula had picked up
some very interesting bread/sandwich rolls. They were more dense than regular bread and somewhat rectangular shaped. Sliced down the center, they were perfect to hold pulled pork. |
On the plate with a
summer salad, it was terrific. Anyone who says you can't buy happiness, hasn't dined at Gilbert Lodge. |
Quote of the day: Chef Paula did it again. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
