Saturday, December 22, 2012: Well, the world was supposed to end by this day, according to some. The joke was on them! The sun came up and birds were chirping at the feeder. Who could want more? There was a weather forecast from earlier in the week saying the temperature on Saturday was going to be 1100 degrees. To some that might have been a nice change as the weather has been a bit cool recently. |
Sunset behind the landmark water tower on the 21st in Brainerd heralded the beginning
of the longest night of the year. In all, there were just 8 hours
and 35 minutes of day with 15 hours and 25 minutes of darkness. This is
the official beginning of winter, also know as the
Winter Solstice.
Brainerd sunrise: 7:57 AM, sunset: 4:32 PM. On the good side, the days will start getting a little longer every day as night yields to day.
