Saturday, October 20, 2012:
Paula and Mark stopped at the Federweisser & Roter Rauscher Festival at the Winehaven Winery and Vineyard at Chisago City, Minnesota. It is about 35 miles north of Minneapolis. Good day for wine tasting that day. |
Mark was interested in the wide selection of wines in bottles. Which one should it be? |
Then the Dynamic Duo headed east through
Lindstrom, Minnesota, which is sometimes referred to as "America's Little
Sweden."
Lots of Swedish people emigrated there 150 years ago. They are a sister city to Tingsryd, Sweden. The water tower reflects shows some of that heritage. |
Then it was off to the St. Croix River and a state park. Nice looking stuffed owl. |
They were holding a pumpkin judging contest that day if the bears don't
get them first.
Very well done. |
Soon Mark and Paula were seen at the
St. Croix Vineyard
near Stillwater, Minnesota. They were making candy as well as pumpkin donuts. |
Paula was at first tempted to buy candy, but then was persuaded
by Mark to buy apples, which are much better for her diet.
Darn! |
Quote of the day: No shortage of things to see and do. Mark | < Back to previous story | Ahead to next story > |
