Wednesday, November 16, 2011:
Mark was busy in the shop drilling a hole in a black-iron pipe.
What was he doing? Well, the pipe has a right angle with an end flange. He drilled and then tapped three 3/8" threads into the pipe as a part of a support rail for a ladder library. The level on the end helped him gage the vertical pipe against the holes he was drilling. How did all of this come out? |
Well, here it is supporting the antique
library ladder that Paula purchased from Your Partner in Design
at the Franklin Arts
Center recently. After the support rail went in, Paula discovered
there was dust on the top shelf and it needed cleaning so
Paula went to work vacuuming.
She really likes the sliding ladder in the library. It added a lot of class to the room. |
Paula is seen here with the
completed ladder. It easily moves from left to right with
wheels on the bottom and the rail across the top to reach any
books in the growing library.
Gilbert Lodge guests are invited to checkout books during their stay. Many do. |
