The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

Sunday, May 15, 2011:  The rhythm of the rails was calling Mark and Paula.  They bought tickets for a ride on the famous 1880 Train in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

The conductor checked his official railroad watch.

This is a coal-fired steam engine from 130 years ago.  It takes a real engineer to run it.

They pulled out of Keystone headed for Hill City.

There were plenty of sights along the way to see. including this 7200 foot peak.

Paula "Shutterbug" Persons brought her camera to capture some of the moments.

The rail line ran through hills and valleys in this once mining area.

The scenery is good and that is why many live here.

Hmmmm.  Who is this guy?  Stay tuned as the Dynamic Duo continue their travels to unravel the mystery of this face.

Tip of the day:  The Ruby House Restaurant in Keystone is a good place to dine.  The house specialty is Buffalo Stew in a bread bowl.

Quote of the day:   It is one adventure after another.  Mark < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
