         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

April 23, 2010:  The Annual Chili Cook-off was held at the WWWI Radio Studios in Brainerd, MN.  About a dozen organizations cooked chili or donated items to be used in this fundraiser to help military families. 

At this booth, the Army was serving chili that tasted better than the army chow that Mark had while serving more than 40 years ago.

The Army won first place, as voted on by the attendees in the taste contest.

This Marine Corps League was there with chili served by a "Grill Sergeant."  Good stuff too.  Mark and Paula went back for seconds.  The Marines took second place in the taste contest.  

The Navy always looks good in their uniforms.  Their chili won third place in the contest. 

That evening, Paula relaxed with a glass of red wine on the Promenade Deck at Gilbert Lodge.  It was the first time this year that the temperatures have been warm enough for the couple to enjoy the deck.

A beautiful sunset to a great day.
