April 10-15, 2010: Mark was in Las Vegas (sometimes pronounced Lost Wages), NV, attending the annual National Association of Broadcasters convention. While there, he took in some of the sights. |
Mark was seen with his "close personal friend" John Wayne....or so it seems from this photo. |
The music and food were terrific at Battista's Hole in the Wall Restaurant, a great Italian food place. To get there from the Riviera Hotel, Mark decided to walk. It looked like just a few blocks...according to a map. Well, it took him 50 minutes to get there. At least he got plenty of exercise and was hungry for dinner. |
The Fremont Street Experience in the old downtown Las Vegas had a tremendous light show at night far above the pavement and the crowd. |
No visit to Sin City is complete without fraternizing with one of the local showgirls. Don't tell Paula! |
Dinner at a Japanese restaurant was interesting as well. |
Who said Elvis is dead? Here is Mark with the king himself. When Mark was heading back, he overheard a man asking an airline ticket agent for a flight to New York, but also asked that his baggage be sent to Los Angeles. The agent said, "We can't do that." The man replied, "What is the problem? You did it for me last week!" Mark arrived back in Brainerd, MN, just before midnight on Thursday, April 15th. Paula made a tuna salad sandwich and a fire in the Grand Fireplace at Gilbert Lodge. A great homecoming! It was their 32nd wedding anniversary too.

Quote of the day: Las Vegas is a very interesting place....even for an engineer. Mark |
