January 23, 2010:  It was an icy day in the Brainerd Lakes Area of Central Minnesota.  Precipitation ranged from rain to freezing rain to snow and then back again to repeat the sequence.

Ice hanging from signs helps tell the story.

A highway department plow works on the ice and spreads salt on a Mississippi River bridge deck.  It is slow going for everyone. 

More ice dripping from a street sign.  The cities of Baxter and Brainerd meet not far west of the Mississippi River. 

The Paul Bunyan Trail bridge near the Trail's Head Business Center on the west side of Brainerd.  Not a good day to be out on the road.
