         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

May 3, 2009:  Gazing to the northwest from the shore at Gilbert Lodge, we see fishermen out on the lake.  Definitely a good sign that summer is on the way.

Speaking of fishing, Chef Paula cooked Minnesota Walleye for dinner.  Added to it were Minnesota wild rice and green peas.  It not only looked good, but it tasted wonderful as well.

For dessert, Paula opened a box of Tortuga Rum Cake.  It is officially recognized as the #1 souvenir and export item of the Cayman Islands.  She picked this up on her SCUBA diving trip to Little Cayman Island this winter.

 

The cake went very well with vanilla ice cream.  A dessert fit for a king...or queen. 

 

The day ended with a great sunset over Gilbert Lake.   

Joke of the Day:  A young man told the story about how he didn't like to go to weddings, because his older family members would point at him and say, "YOU'RE NEXT."  After he was finally married, he got back at those same people at funerals by pointing at them and saying, "YOU'RE NEXT!"
