November 6, 2009:  Just after sunrise looking toward Gilbert Lake from the grounds of Gilbert Lodge.

A closer look reveals Canadian geese swimming in the less-than-warm waters.  There had been a thin layer of ice on the lake the day before, but it did not last long.

Josie is nice and warm in a chair in a guest room on the south side of the Lodge.

Paula went SCUBA diving with friends Leslie Kopietz and Rob Fitzsimmons on Gull Lake near Brainerd.  The dive site was near a public landing on the east side of the lake just south of Hole in the Day Drive.  Paula came up with some interesting items.

The treasure included a bucket, a coffee pot, and two bottles.  Paula is trying to work out the lineage on the bottles.

Sunset as seen just south of Brainerd.  That night, we took Paula's dad Chet Timman out to a "hunters stew" dinner at  Brainerd VFW Post 1647.  Saturday was the beginning of the firearms hunting season for deer in Minnesota.  Chet served every day of WWII in the U.S. Navy.
