         The life and times of Mark and Paula Persons

October 17, 2009:  It was Oktoberfest at Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge near Deerwood, MN.  This annual event draws thousands to take in the sights and sounds of a fairly authentic celebration as you might find in Germany.  Many show up in costume to enhance the experience like this father and son.

The oompah band played on to the cheers and singing of the spectators.  Songs included Roll out the Barrel, You are my Sunshine, In Heaven there is no Beer, and Edelweiss just to name a few favorites.

Many danced the afternoon away.     

Others enjoyed authentic German Bratwurst complete with sauerkraut.  You can't eat just one.

Many German characters danced through the crowds as well.  A fun time was had by all.
