January 12, 2009: Crews are out removing recent snowfall in
Brainerd, Minnesota. Snow is usually followed by cold temperatures.
This is "hunker-down" weather. How Cold is it in Minnesota in January? Well, the birds are coming to the feeder only in the warmest part of the day. |

January 13, 2009: -23 degrees F (55 degrees below freezing) in the morning. It warmed to -6 F (38 degrees below freezing) with a wind chill of -40 F ( 72 degrees below freezing) most of the day. January 14, 2009: The low was -17 F and the high was -7 F. January 15, 2009: The morning low was -28 F with a -45 F wind-chill which is 77 degrees below freezing. That is as far below freezing as 109 degrees is above freezing. The high temperature was -7 F. January 16, 2009: The morning low was -34 F. High -1 F and light snow. That is 3 days of temperatures below zero day and night. January 17, 2009: The temperature popped above zero degrees. |

She cooked turkey. Using a thermometer, she determined that it was not quite done. So, back into the oven it went. | |

It sure looked good on the plate and tasted even better. The fare included a salad, Minnesota turkey, turkey dressing, turkey gravy, green beans, and Wisconsin cranberries. |
