Friday, April 11, 2008: A late spring snowfall at Gilbert Lodge left the trees and ground covered. Snow even blew in under the summer deck. |
The trees are heavy with snow. We needed every bit of it to bring the water level up on Gilbert Lake. |
The official snowfall is 12 inches in front of Gilbert Lodge. |
The trusty Toro snow thrower kept up with the heavy snow. |
Later in the day, snow was seen creeping off the steel roof like a glacier. |
An avalanche of snow from the upper roof piled on top of the garage roof just outside the galley window. |
Paula says, "WOW," pointing to snow that came avalanching off the lower roof. It is darn near five feet high and that is just from this snowfall. The ground was bare the day before. The snow should be melted and gone in a few days...it is spring at Gilbert Lodge. |
