November 3, 2007:  The annual wood-splitting day is here.  Logs from once-mighty trees at Gilbert Lodge are "cracked" into pieces with a motorized hydraulic wood splitter.  We say cracked because the weather was just around freezing and logs often crack or pop when split.

October 12, 2007:  There is now plenty of wood stacked and ready for the Gilbert Lodge Grand Fireplace thanks to Paula "Lena" Persons and Mark "Ole" Persons.

November 5, 2007:  Snow flurries in and around Brainerd, MN.  No lasting accumulation yet. 

November 6-7, 2007: Overnight freeze at all reporting locations in the State of Minnesota.

November 8, 2007: Gilbert Lake is starting to freeze over.

November 24-25, 2007: Gilbert Lake froze over.  Christmas is only a month away.
