This a story that appeared on our (http://mwpersons.com) commercial Web site April 27, 2002. It bears repeating here for anyone interested in the bygone days of radio or for those who have no idea what it was like then. You can watch, read, and enjoy. A Sherlock Holmes radio drama was performed live on stage at the Pavek Muesum of Broadcasting by the Red-Throated League of the Norwegian Explorers of Minnesota. Note the sound effects crew of three on the left. Click on any photo to enlarge it. |
The presentation was not "On The
Air," but was thrilling for the audience who watched at the Pavek. The crew
read scripts perfectly into vintage RCA 77DX ribbon microphones.

Actors wore period costumes from the
1930's much to the delight of the audience. It was all very exciting.

This group has a wonderful time doing
performances before live audiences. They appear at the Pavek once a year to a
standing-room-only crowd.

Here they are again on April 12, 2003 with
another Sherlock Holmes adventure. What fun to listen to. The script included
radio commercials and Mutual Radio Network identification. The Mutual Radio
Network is no longer in business, but was well known years ago.

The crew did a great job with sound effects
too.
