Sunday, January 17, 2021:
Snowshoe Paula headed to Crow Wing State Park where she found a beaver had been working on cutting a tree.

The Crow Wing River joins the Mississippi River here as it flows through on its way to the Gulf of Mexico.

There is a spot where ox carts crossed the river going east and west through Minnesota 100 years ago.

A nice view of the river from above.

The Father Pierz Chapel (Catholic mission) dates from 1852.  This is a replacement for the original structure.

Then there is this "home sweet home" for woodpeckers.

Pileated woodpeckers are sometimes found at Gilbert Lodge.  They love the trees.

Quote of the day:    They are everywhere.  Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
